Give us your feedback

Throughout the Famly platform, you'll find the new "Give feedback" button, where you can leave a score and a comment about the feature of Famly you're currently using.

Why?

Our product team are always actively listening to customers on ways to improve the platform. Your feedback (tied to a specific feature in this way) lets them see directly what's working and what isn't, so they know where to focus their efforts.

Where?

In the app, where you're working anyway. You can find the "Give feedback" button on most features, with even more coming soon.

New staff contracts

Important: Former contracts remain, but the new format allows full daily editing and scheduling in the past, present, and future.

Full version control and irregular daily hours: We have updated the Staff Contracts feature with a highly requested update that opens up the possibility for exciting new features:

  • Set contracted hours from any day in the past, today, or a future "valid from" date

  • Per-day hour entry (e.g. Mon 8h, Fri 5h30m), so we can capture irregular work weeks

  • Existing contracts are retained and viewable, but you now can do a lot more

These upgrades enable the following features, which are now in development

  • Contract-informed absences: Soon, contracts will be able to be the source of "hours" for a staff member's absence—including any irregular hour patterns through the week

  • Bank closure day handling: Soon, contracts will be the source of "hours" for paid time off on upcoming bank holidays

Funded weeks & care breakdown on invoices

For customers whose Local Authorities are asking for extra detail on invoices for Universal Credit. You now have two new options to help:

  1. Funded weeks: Invoices can now show how many weeks funding is allocated to, e.g. "Funding is stretched over 50 weeks a year" or "Funding is applied to 38 weeks a year (term time)."
This reflects how many weeks of funding a child has in the active school year, so parents can understand their invoices more easily.

  2. Care breakdown for annualised invoices: You can now add a breakdown of care vs. other charges, so when Universal Credit reviews the invoice, they can clearly see how much relates to care and parents don't run into issues getting their invoices accepted.

How to enable it:

Opt in: Debt broken down by days overdue

You can now opt in to a further redesigned Debt Collection report that breaks outstanding debt down by how many days it’s overdue, instead of the old overlapping totals.

What’s changed: Outstanding debt is now split into clear, non-overlapping ranges, so you can see how old each debt is at a glance:

  • 1–30 days

  • 31–60 days

  • 61–90 days

  • 91–120 days

  • 120+ days

The same ranges work as a filter, and the CSV export includes the new breakdowns too.

Try it out: You can opt in directly via the Playground, or via the banner at the top of the Debt Collection report, which redirects you to the Playground.
This feature is enabled per site, so if you're managing multiple sites, you can try it on one first, before rolling it out.

Contracts overview: status and template filters

Finding one contract meant scanning every contract at the site; now you can filter!
Where to find it: Documents → Contracts

📌 Available as part of the Enrolment add-on

Streamlined approval flow for parent purchase requests

No more navigating away from requests to check room capacity, staffing, and bill payer details before making a decision. Now, all the context is in one place. When you open a purchase request, a side panel now shows everything you need to make your decision, without leaving the page. You'll find:

  • The child's room — which room the child is assigned to

  • Expected children — how many children are expected in the room for that session, alongside room capacity

  • Scheduled staff — staff scheduled for the room and time (if your site uses staff scheduling)

  • Staff-to-child ratio — the configured ratio

  • Bill payer and overdue balance — the bill payer(s) linked to the child, with any outstanding balance and associated bill payer tags

After reviewing the requested sessions, you can remove sessions that don't work (in case there are several sessions in one request), and then approve or reject the whole request.

📌 Available on Premium and Professional packages.

🔦 Feature spotlight: Exact amounts children ate

When you log meals in Famly, the default option is a slider from "None" to "All+". This is a quick way to describe to parents and carers how much children ate, but what if you need more detail?

Simply click on the three dots to the top right of the slider when adding a meal, and click "Use exact amount"

This opens a new window where you can enter an exact amount ( a numeral) in the box to the left, and add a description of exactly what was eaten to the right.

If you have a child with ARFID, for example, or a child who's been struggling to eat at nursery, this offers you a way to track what children ate. Or, for babies, you can enter exactly how many ounces of their bottle they drank.

Instead of "Celery sticks with cream cheese: Little", you can add a much clearer breakdown, like, "Celery sticks with cream cheese: 1 celery stick, tried the cream cheese, had one breadstick as well."

Fixes, improvements, and updates

Meal Plans: view mode & print
We made a clearer, simpler overview with a print option! This now shows every meal's details, including allergens, and the edit button switches you to the editor (if you need it). You can also print a landscape week grid via Options → Print. You can find it via: Home → Meal plans → open a published plan

Staff to-dos: manage others' to-dos
If you enable the "Manage all staff's to-dos" permission, you can now edit, complete or delete a colleague's to-do. This setting is on by default for managers and admins. Find it in: Staff → To-dos.

Multi-site child import
You can now import children into several sites in one pass by clicking: Import, then "Import for multiple sites". Add a column naming each child's site and map it like any other field, and sites you can't add children into are excluded automatically. Find it here: Children → Import
