The Journey tab
The Journey tab is where all assessments and observations made for a child will appear, in chronological order.
In addition to this, there is a summary on the left that shows personal progress in each area. By clicking Details, you can see the detailed breakdown of each sub-area either by Statement-based tracking (statement links) or Refinement-based tracking (age-band refinements).
Observations are used to record development, interest, experiences, and achievement, and create an overall picture of the children in your care. to create an observation:
Log in to the app and go to the child's Journey tab, on their Profile
In the top right, click 'New'
A drop-down menu will open, click 'observation'
Write your observation in the text box and add 'Next steps' in the bottom box, if you wish.
You have the option to upload a photo, video, or document.
You can choose to link your observation to the curriculum your setting is following, by clicking on the 'eye' icon.
Assessment is ongoing through your observations of the children in your care, however, you can also record summative assessments in Famly, to create a general snapshot of a child's current development. To learn how to record an assessment, click the link below:
Downloading a child's journey
When children leave your setting, parents can still access their child's profile and photos, as long as their role in the app has not been revoked. This means you do not need to download or print anything out. If you do choose to download a child's journey, you can find out how to at the link below:
