π To send private messages to parents on Famly, you'll need the Send private messages to parents permission
The Messages area in Famly helps you stay connected with parents in a quick, secure, and organised way. It is designed to support everyday communication without adding to your workload.
You can send private messages, share updates, attach files, and keep conversations tidy using archive options. The steps below guide you through the different ways to start a private message, how to select recipients, and what to expect when sending group messages.
How to Send a Private Message to Parents
From the Messages section
Tap the message icon in the menu bar at the bottom of your screen
Tap the pen icon in the Private tab to write a new message
Choose whether to write to parents or employees. Tap on Parents
Tap on the child's classroom
Tap on a child and select the parent you want to message
Repeat this until you have added all recipients. Added recipients appear in the To field
π‘ You can send a message to a maximum of 50 recipients at a time. If you need to reach more parents, we recommend creating a Newsfeed post instead

Add a file using the upload button if needed
Tap Send or Send and archive
From the Room Overview
You can also send a private message directly from your room:
Tap the Home icon in the menu bar at the bottom
Select the classroom the child is part of
Tap on the child whose parent you want to message
Or tap Select all children if you want to message all parents in that room
Select Send message in the sidebar
You will be taken to the messaging page with the child already selected as the recipient
Write your message in the Write a message... field and tap Send
Group Messages and Private Replies
When you select multiple recipients, the message becomes a group message. Everyone included will see all replies in the same thread. It is not possible to send a group message while keeping replies private between you and each parent.
If you need to contact all parents or a larger group and want replies to stay private:
Create a Newsfeed post
Switch off comments
Ask parents to reply in a private message
This way, each response comes to you individually without being visible to others.
