Inviting Parents and Getting Them Started

Invite parents to the app

Written by Josie

Getting parents set up on Famly is one of the first things to do when you join. Here's everything you need to know about inviting parents and what they'll see once they're in.

How to Invite Parents

To register a parent with Famly, you'll need their email address. You can use this consent form to collect email addresses and consent from parents before registering them.

The video below walks you through how to invite parents to the app:

What the App Looks Like for Parents

Once parents are set up, here's a quick overview of what they'll find in the app.

The newsfeed

The newsfeed is the first thing parents see when they open the app. This is where you share updates, photos, and news about what's happening at the setting. Parents can like and comment on posts and save anything they want to come back to.

Their child's profile

Parents can tap their child's tab to see the activity feed, a timeline of the day including sign-ins, meals, nappy changes, and staff updates. From here they can also report sickness or absences, request care, and view their child's learning journey, including observations shared by staff. They can add their own observations too.

Messages

Parents can send and receive messages directly with your team through the messages tab.

Notifications

Parents receive notifications for permissions they need to respond to, accident or incident forms that need acknowledgement, new invoices, and any other important updates from your setting.

Calendar and balance

In the Menu tab, parents can see upcoming events in their calendar and view and pay invoices under their balance, if your setting uses Famly for billing.

Account settings

Parents can update their contact details, notification preferences, payment methods, and password or PIN by tapping their profile picture in the top right corner.
