🔒 If your child's setting has not enabled two-factor authentication, this section will not show in your settings. Please reach out to your child's setting to ask whether this should be available for you

What is Two-factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication means there are two steps to log in to the app - providing you with an extra layer of security. The two factors (or layers of security) are:

  • Your email and password

AND

  • A code generated by an authenticator app

How to Set up Two-factor Authentication

To set up two-factor authentication, follow the steps below:

  • First, you will need to download an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, for Apple devices or Android devices. This is free to download and use.

It is easier to complete the next part of this process on a desktop computer or laptop, with the device you want to use for two-factor authentication handy (such as a tablet or mobile phone).

  • Log into Famly on your desktop computer or laptop

  • Click on your profile picture in the top right corner to access your Account settings menu

  • Click on Your Settings

  • Select Password and PIN

  • Click on Set up two-factor authentication

  • Next, open up the Authenticator app you downloaded onto your smartphone. Tap on the + and then select Scan a QR code

  • Scan the QR code on your desktop computer or laptop with your smartphone

  • You will be redirected to your Authenticator app automatically, where a new code will appear under Famly

  • Back on Famly, enter the code into the Enter authentication code section to finish your setup

💡 These codes update frequently, so make sure you enter it quickly!

  • Click on Activate two-factor authentication

How to Disable Two-factor Authentication

To disable two-factor authentication, you'll need to:

  • Click on your profile picture in the top right corner to access your Account settings menu

  • Click on Your Settings

  • Select Password and PIN

  • Click on Disable two-factor authentication

  • Enter your password to confirm

  • Click on Disable two-factor authentication

  • And lastly, click on Disable to finish

If you have Lost Access to your Two-factor Authenticator App

If you no longer have access to your two-factor authentication app or codes, email support@famly.co from the email address associated with your Famly account. The team will need to verify your identity before they can reset the two-factor authentication on your account for you.
