What is Two-factor Authentication?
Two-factor authentication means there are two steps to log in to the app - providing you with an extra layer of security. The two factors (or layers of security) are:
Your email and password
AND
A code generated by an authenticator app
How to Set up Two-factor Authentication
To set up two-factor authentication, follow the steps below:
It is easier to complete the next part of this process on a desktop computer or laptop, with the device you want to use for two-factor authentication handy (such as a tablet or mobile phone).
Log into Famly on your desktop computer or laptop
Click on your profile picture in the top right corner to access your Account settings menu
Click on Your Settings
Select Password and PIN
Click on Set up two-factor authentication
Next, open up the Authenticator app you downloaded onto your smartphone. Tap on the + and then select Scan a QR code
Scan the QR code on your desktop computer or laptop with your smartphone
You will be redirected to your Authenticator app automatically, where a new code will appear under Famly
Back on Famly, enter the code into the Enter authentication code section to finish your setup
💡 These codes update frequently, so make sure you enter it quickly!
Click on Activate two-factor authentication
How to Disable Two-factor Authentication
To disable two-factor authentication, you'll need to:
Click on your profile picture in the top right corner to access your Account settings menu
Click on Your Settings
Select Password and PIN
Click on Disable two-factor authentication
Enter your password to confirm
Click on Disable two-factor authentication
And lastly, click on Disable to finish
If you have Lost Access to your Two-factor Authenticator App
If you no longer have access to your two-factor authentication app or codes, email support@famly.co from the email address associated with your Famly account. The team will need to verify your identity before they can reset the two-factor authentication on your account for you.
