Overview of the Settings Menu in Famly

The Settings menu is where you manage how your nursery appears and operates in Famly. From here, you can update your setting’s details, control permissions, configure finances, and tailor features to match how your nursery works day to day.

Below is an overview of what you can manage in each section of the Settings menu.


My account

This section takes you to your personal account settings, where you can update your own profile and login details.


General

Here you can manage core information about your nursery, including:

  • Your nursery details and contact information

  • Opening hours

  • Planned closure days


Security

Use this section to control login security, including configuring automatic logout times for staff accounts.


Rooms

In the Rooms section, you can:

  • View and manage all rooms in your setting

  • Add and manage custom statuses

  • Configure how room moves are handled


Children

This section allows you to configure how children are organised and managed, including:

  • Creating age groups and ratios

  • Setting collection passwords for safeguarding


Staff

Here you can manage staff setup and permissions, including:

  • Viewing staff working hours

  • Assigning roles and permissions

  • Managing staff absences

  • Recording staff qualifications


Parents

This section controls how parent accounts function. You can:

  • Decide whether parents can invite additional contacts

  • Configure parental permissions


Integrations

Use this area to manage external IDs and integrations with other systems.


Communication

This section lets you tailor how communication works in your setting, including:

  • Messaging settings

  • Newsfeed settings


Finances

Here you can configure how billing and payments work in your nursery. You can:

  • Set up pricing structures and attendance schedules

  • Configure public funding

  • Set up invoicing and payment settings

  • Add bill payer tags

  • Manage accounting settings


Sidekick

Use this setting to enable or disable the Sidekick writing assistant for your account.


Bookings

In this section you can configure notifications for unexpected sign-ins, helping you stay informed about attendance changes.


Child Development

This section controls how observations and assessments work. You can:

  • Allow parents to add observations from home

  • Configure assessment settings, reference material, and learning frameworks


Meals

Here you can set up and manage meal plans for your setting.


Safeguarding

Use this section to enable the headcount feature, helping you keep track of children on site.


Sign in/out

This section lets you manage your separate sign-in screen and view the password used for the sign-in display.


Playground

The Playground area allows you to enable beta features so you can try new tools that are still in development.
