Parents 🧸: Send a Private Message

Use the app to send and receive messages to and from your child's setting

Written by Josie

The Messages section in Famly allows you to communicate securely with your child’s setting.

To find your messages:

  • Tap the Messages icon (the speech bubble) in the menu bar at the bottom of the Famly app

  • If you're using Famly on a computer, the Messages icon is in the top right corner of your screen

  • Your most recent messages will appear at the top

Unread messages are shown with:

  • A red circle with a number inside

  • A red dot next to the message thread

How to Write a Message to Your Child’s Setting

You can send a message directly to staff through Famly.

To write a new message:

  • Open Messages

  • Click the pencil icon to start a new message

  • Choose who you want to message

You may be able to message:

  • Your child’s room (all staff in that room)

  • An individual staff member, such as your child’s key person

  • The manager or management team

If your setting allows it, you may also be able to message other parents.

Once you’ve selected your recipient:

  • Type your message in the text box at the bottom of the page

  • Click Upload to attach a photo or document

  • Click Send when you’re ready

Archive Old Messages

If you want to keep your inbox tidy, you can archive message threads.

To archive a message thread:

  • Use Send and archive

The conversation will move to your archive, but you can still access and read it at any time.
