How to Set Up Your Free Package
To get started with your Free Package, you'll first need to create an account here by starting a 2-week free trial of Famly’s Professional package. After the trial ends, your account will automatically switch to the Free Package.
You might notice that some Professional features are no longer available, but don’t worry, any information you’ve entered (like children, staff, and parent invites) will be saved. That means you can fully set up your account during the trial without losing any progress once it reverts to the Free Package.
This guide will walk you through the key steps to get started with your Free Package in Famly, including:
Adding your setting’s information
Adding children
Adding staff and managing their access
To get started, log in at https://app.famly.co and bookmark the page for quick access. If you're using a mobile device, you can download the Famly app from the iOS App Store, Google Play Store, or Amazon Appstore.
Add Your Setting's Information
To add the basic details about your setting:
Go to Settings in the sidebar → General → Information
Fill in your setting’s name, contact information, and add a link to your Privacy Policy if needed
Scroll down to add your Opening hours and Closure days, which will help with scheduling
You can return to this section at any time to update your information.
Add Rooms to Your Setting
Once you've created your account, it's a good idea to set up your rooms so you can assign children and staff to them. There are two ways to do this:
Go to Home → Overview, then click Add room in the Site overview
Or go to Settings → Rooms overview, enter the room name in the text box, and click Add room
You can also add extra details, like capacity and staff ratio, by clicking the cog icon next to each room.
Add Children to Your Setting
Once you've created your rooms, you'll be able to assign children to them. To add a child:
Go to Home → Children
Click Add child in the upper right corner
Fill in the basic child details and click Add
The child will now appear in your list and in their assigned room. This creates a basic profile, which you can build on later. Parents can also add more information once invited.
To manage your child list, use the filters in the top left to view Current, Upcoming, or Withdrawn children.
To invite parents:
Either tick Send login to parent when adding the child
Or click Invite parents in the top right of the Children page to add them all in one go
Add Your Staff
You can store and manage staff details directly in Famly. To add staff:
Go to Home → Staff
Click Add employee
Fill in their details and click Add
The staff member will now appear in your staff list and in their assigned room (if selected).
Give Your Staff Access to Famly
To send a login and choose their access level:
Go to Home → Staff
Scroll down your list of staff members and click on Send login next to their name
Select the appropriate role:
Manager
Senior practitioner
Practitioner
Click Send invitation
You can always edit a staff member’s permissions later if needed.
