The Parent Welcome Email
When you invite a parent to Famly, they’ll receive a welcome email that looks like this:
Dear [name],
[Your child’s nursery] uses Famly to keep you and your family updated. You’ll be able to receive photos of your child, important notices, information about events, and much more. You can also let us know if your child has a day off or is unwell.
You’ve been given a parental account for [child’s name] in [room name] at [nursery name].
To get started, you need a Famly account, which we’ve already created for you. You just need to create a password.
If you have trouble clicking the link above, try this link instead: [your personal link]
We hope you enjoy using Famly. If you have any feedback or questions, feel free to contact us at [nursery email address].
Best regards,
[Your child’s nursery]
The content of this welcome email can’t be edited in your settings. You can, however, change the contact email address that appears in the message. To update it:
Go to Settings → General → Information
In the Email address field, enter the email address you’d like to display in the welcome message
Click Save
This email address will also appear on invoices and will serve as the general contact email for parents.
💡 If you’d like to send parents documents when inviting them, you can do this through the newsfeed. If they need to accept terms and conditions or a privacy policy, you can attach documents to a permission using the Parental permissions feature
Allowing Parents to Add Other Contacts
If you’d like, contacts with the parent role can also add additional contacts to their child and invite them to Famly. To enable this:
Go to Settings in your sidebar
Click Parents
Click Login options and toggle on Parents’ invitation rights
Sending a Login to a Child’s Contact
If you’ve enrolled a child from Enquiries, you’ll need to send their parent a Famly login separately. To do this:
Go to the Family tab on the child’s profile
Click Send login next to the contact you’d like to invite
In the window that opens, assign the contact a role:
Parent
Family
Pickup (to enable this option, go to Settings → Sign in/out and toggle on Pin code required for sign in)
Confirm their email address if you haven’t already entered one
Click Send invitation
Address Protection
Under a contact’s address, you can tick the Address protection box to prevent their address from being seen by staff who don’t have the Manage protected addresses permission.
For staff without this permission, the address will be hidden throughout the platform, including in custom lists that include an address column. Staff with the permission can still see the address wherever it appears.
💡 Other contacts linked to the same child also won’t be able to see a protected address. This is particularly useful in situations like separated parents, where one contact shouldn’t have access to the other’s address
Removing a Contact’s Login
If you want to remove a contact’s access to Famly without deleting them entirely, you can remove their login. To do this:
Go to the child’s profile and click the Family tab
Find the contact whose login you want to remove
Scroll down to the Email row and click Remove login
💡 You can reinstate their login at any time by clicking Send login and choosing the appropriate role
When a contact’s last role is removed, they’ll be logged out of all devices and can no longer log in. Parents of children who have left the setting can still access Famly until their role is revoked.
Deleting a Contact
To remove a contact from a child’s profile entirely after you've removed their access:
Go to the child’s profile and click the Family tab
Find the contact you want to remove and click Edit
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Delete
