π To pin a Newsfeed post, you must have the Newsfeed pinning permission. This permission allows staff to pin and unpin posts
Important Newsfeed posts can be pinned to the top of the feed so they remain visible even as new posts are published. This is especially useful for announcements that need to stay front and centre, such as upcoming closures, policy updates, consent reminders, or any information parents and staff should not miss.
How Newsfeed Pinning Works
Each nursery site can have one pinned post at a time. When a post is pinned, it appears in two places:
At the top of the Newsfeed: as a short summary shown above all other posts
In its original position: in the feed, where the full post remains in chronological order and is visually marked as pinned
New posts published afterwards do not replace the summary at the top. The pinned summary stays visible until you unpin the post or replace it with another one.
How to Pin a Newsfeed Post
To pin a post, you must have the Newsfeed pinning permission. If you have this permission, you can pin any post that has already been published for your nursery site.
Find the post in the Newsfeed
Select the three-dot menu on the post
Select Pin post
The post will immediately appear as a summary at the top of the Newsfeed and will be marked as pinned in its original place in the feed.
π‘ Only posts that have already been published can be pinned. Drafts and scheduled posts cannot be pinned
Replacing a Pinned Post
If your nursery already has a pinned post and you try to pin a new one, you will be notified that a pinned post is already active. You can then choose to replace the existing pinned post with the new one.
Unpinning a Post
Pinned posts remain at the top of the Newsfeed until they are manually unpinned.
To unpin a post:
Find the pinned post, either from the summary at the top or from its marked position in the feed
Select the three-dot menu on the post
Select Unpin post
The summary at the top will be removed, while the full post will remain in the Newsfeed in its original chronological position.
What Parents See
Parents see the same layout in the Famly app. They will see a short summary of the pinned post at the top of their Newsfeed, as well as the full post in its original position, clearly marked as pinned.
