🔒 Non-fundable days are only available for attendance schedules using Specific dates and Actuals
Sometimes, children may attend all year, but funding only applies during certain parts of that time. With non-fundable days, you can mark specific attendance periods as not eligible for funding, so those days will not be included when funding is calculated.
This makes it easier to comply with funding rules and helps you set up plans accurately without needing extra workarounds.
What Are Non-fundable Days?
Non-fundable days are days within an attendance schedule where care is still provided, but funding is not allowed to apply.
When you mark days as non-fundable:
Children can still attend as normal
The days can still be included in the schedule
Funding cannot be allocated for those days
This is especially useful for organisations with term-time funding, or scenarios where care is provided for more weeks than funding covers. For example:
Some organisations offer 52 weeks of care, but only allow funding for 50 weeks
Others provide attendance all year, but only allow funding during term time (for example, 38 weeks)
Instead of building complex plan parts to remove funding from certain periods, non-fundable days let you handle this directly within the attendance schedule.
How to Set Up Non-fundable Days
You can add non-fundable days when creating an attendance schedule.
Head to your Settings
Select Pricing
Open Fundamentals
Choose Schedules
Click Add attendance schedule and select Specific dates (or open an existing schedule)
Then:
Choose the attendance days for the period
Click the plus (+) icon
Select the specific days where funding does not apply
You can click on + Add more dates to expand the range of non-fundable days or click on Add to finish
Once selected, those days will be marked as non-fundable, meaning funding cannot be allocated for them in that schedule. Non-fundable days will be indicated by an orange cross like at the end of July and in August below:
💡 Non-fundable days can only be configured when you choose Specific dates and not Full year in your Attendance schedule setup
Good-to-know
A few helpful notes before you start:
Non-fundable days are applied within the schedule (not in the child’s plan)
You can still offer care on those days, but they will not count toward funded time
This is ideal for stretched funding setups, where funded entitlement needs to be carefully distributed
When Should I Use Non-Fundable Days vs. Plan Parts?
If your goal is:
To keep care available but remove funding from certain days or weeks, use non-fundable days
To change pricing, attendance pattern, or the structure of care across the year, use plan parts
In most cases, non-fundable days will be the simplest option when you only need to control funding eligibility.
