Automatic payments are the easiest way to stay on top of your child's fees. Set it up once, and Famly takes care of the rest - your balance is paid automatically on your center's scheduled due date.
You don't need to remember due dates or log in to make a payment. It just works. And because payments are always on time, you'll never have to worry about potential late fees.
How Automatic Payments Work
Once you've set them up, here's what happens:
Your center has a scheduled payment day (weekly, monthly, or when an invoice is due)
Famly automatically charges your payment method on that day
You'll receive a notification 1 day before you're due to be charged
Your payment is automatically initiated
💡 If your center passes on processing fees and you use autopay, the fee may not be shown before the payment is processed
Depending on your center's settings, automatic payments will charge either your total outstanding balance or only what's currently due. Here's how it works:
Fixed date: Famly charges your full outstanding balance on the scheduled payment day.
Invoice due date: Famly only charges what's due on that date - any invoices with a later due date won't be included. This means you'll never be charged early for upcoming invoices.
If you're unsure which setup your center uses, we recommend reaching out to them directly. You can always make a manual payment, even if automatic payments are set up. If you do, autopay will account for it: your next automatic payment will be adjusted so you're only charged the remaining relevant balance
If Your Center Requires Automatic Payments
Some nurseries require parents to set up automatic payments before they can access Famly. If this applies to you, you'll see a message when you log in explaining that adding a payment method will automatically enrol you in autopay.
Your outstanding balance will then be paid on your center's scheduled payment day. You'll always get a notification 1 day before you're charged, so there are no surprises.
Set Up Automatic Payments
Go to your Balance tab
Tap Set up automatic payments
Choose your payment method
Enter your details if you haven't already
Tap Save
That's it - your chosen payment method will be charged automatically on your center's payment day.
If you've already added multiple payment methods, you can switch which one is used for automatic payments from the same screen - just change the payment method and press Save.
You can also enable automatic payments right after making a successful payment - Famly will offer to automate future payments using the payment method you just paid with.
If an Automatic Payment Fails
Automatic payments are only attempted once. If something goes wrong (for example, insufficient funds or an expired card) the payment won't go through, and you'll be notified.
When this happens, you'll need to log into Famly and pay manually from your Balance tab. Automatic payments will run as normal next time, as long as the issue is resolved.
💡 If your card is about to expire, update it in Famly before your next payment day to avoid a missed payment
Turn Off Automatic Payments
If you'd like to stop automatic payments and pay manually instead:
Go to your Balance tab
Tap on Automatic payments, then Edit
Tap Disable at the bottom
You can always set up automatic payments again later if you change your mind.
