Reports in the Child Development app

Next Steps

You can also view the planned 'Next Steps', of children in your setting in 'Child Development'. This is a list of the 'Next Steps' or 'What's Next?' entered on individual children's Observations. You can filter the list of 'Next Steps' by:

  • Child

  • Key person

  • Room

  • A date the next steps were made after (to ensure the next steps are up-to-date

You can also 'Archive' next steps from here, as they become no longer relevant.

Progress Report

The default view of the progress report is by Statement-based tracking- this is a summary of each child's development based on the statements (the links to the curriculum) that have been connected to their observations. Choose your 'as of' date and ensure you have your curriculum selected from the drop-down menu.

You can filter by:

  • Key person

  • Tags

  • Rooms

  • Gender

  • Age

When in this view you can click into each box to see the 'Journey Details'. Here you will be able to see:

  • the title

  • the statements (links to the curriculum you use) that have been connected to the observations made of the child

  • the age band (in the curriculum) they were connected to

  • the date the curriculum statements were linked

The Age Band that is shown is the youngest curriculum Age Band the child is working in.

Areas that the children are 2 or more age bands 'ahead of expected progress' will be shaded in dark blue, 1 age band ahead will be in light blue. Those that are 2 or more age bands 'behind' will be shaded in red and 1 age band behind will be in light red.

Compare Cohorts

*Note: This is only part of the old child development. If you don't see this section it means you are switched over to our updated version.

You can compare cohorts in 'Child Development' in Famly, based on statement-based tracking and "progress as of" a certain date.

On the top-right you can add cohorts to compare and see the proportion of children that are 'below', 'on track', 'above' expected progress, as well as the children that in need of observations. You can further refine the data at the top left of the graph, where you can choose to see only those children that are 'below', 'on track', or 'above' expected progress. In the top right of the graph you can select if you want to see all areas of learning or only the primary areas.

For statement-based tracking, the graph will show the percentage of children relative to the options you've chosen.

If you click on a certain bar on the graph you are taken to the progress report filtered for the selected cohorts.

Tally

The 'Tally' section of 'Child Development' counts the observations made about the children in your setting. You can choose 'statement-based' (links to the curriculum you use) or 'refinement-based' (by expected age-bands in the curriculum you use) observations, and the period of time you'd like to view. Again, you can also filter by:

  • Key person

  • Tags

  • Rooms

  • Gender

  • Age

You can also choose to show only children who have no observations in the specified period.

Bringing children 'Up to Speed'

*Note: This is only part of the old child development and only available for the English EYFS framework. If you don't see this option it means you are switched over to our updated version or haven't activated the EYFS framework.

The 'Up to Speed' feature, allows you to mark all statements as 'achieved'. To do this:

  • On the Journey tab of the child's profile, click on the 'Details' button, to the bottom left of the page. you'll find it underneath their 'Tracking' panel

  • A new window will open (as below) with that child's tracking data (refinement-based and statement-based)

  • Click on the Area of learning and age band you wish to mark as achieved and click 'Bring up to speed'

You can also do this through the 'Progress Report' in the Child Development app. Simply select the Sub-area and Age you'd like the child to have completed all progress up to, and then click 'Bring up to speed' (as above). The child will then have completed 100% of the statements up to and including this age band.

If you record an up to speed incorrectly you can remove it by going into the Learning β†’ Child Development β†’ Overview. From the type drop down menu select Up to Speed.
