Parents 🧸: Paying Your Balance

Written by Josie

Once you've added a payment method, paying your child's fees in Famly is straightforward. This guide explains how to make a payment and what to expect.

💡 Before you can pay, you'll need to add a payment method. See our guide: Getting Started with In-app Payments

From the Balance Screen

If your nursery has enabled in-app payments, you'll see a Pay button on your Balance screen.

  1. Tap on the Home icon in your sidebar and select Balance

  2. You'll see your outstanding balance and a Pay button

  3. Tap Pay

  4. Choose your payment method

  5. Tap Pay

If you haven't added a payment method yet, you can do it here. Just tap Add payment method in the payment window and follow the steps.

Pay From an Invoice

You can also pay directly from an invoice. Open any invoice from your Balance tab, and you'll see a Pay button on it. Tapping Pay takes you through the same payment flow - choose your method and confirm.

Pay From the Newsfeed

When your nursery sends you a new invoice, it will appear as a post in your Newsfeed. You'll see a Pay button right there on the post - so you can pay straight away without navigating anywhere else.

After You've Paid

Once you tap Pay, your payment starts processing straight away and your balance updates to reflect it. How quickly the money leaves your account depends on the payment method:

  • Card payments are processed instantly

  • Direct Debit payments take a few business days to complete

💡 Once a payment has started processing, it can't be stopped or cancelled through Famly. If you've made a payment by mistake, you'll need to contact your bank directly. You can also reach out to your nursery to discuss a refund once the payment has been completed

Pay a Custom Amount

Your nursery may allow you to pay a custom amount instead of your full balance. This can be helpful if you'd like to pay in instalments or get ahead on future fees.

If this option is available:

  1. Go to your Balance tab

  2. You'll see your outstanding balance and a Pay button

  3. Tap Pay

  4. You have an option to change the amount to be paid

  5. Tap Pay

Any overpayment creates credit that's automatically applied to future invoices.

💡 Custom amounts only apply to manual payments. Automatic payments always charge your full outstanding balance
