How the Out of Office Status Works

The Out of Office status lets you automatically let parents know when you’re unavailable. When enabled, it appears as a pop-up message when someone tries to send you a direct message, helping manage response expectations while you’re away.

💡 Please note that Out of Office statuses do not appear on messages sent to an entire room or classroom.

How to Use the Out of Office Status

You can set your Out of Office status from your account settings.

To set your Out of Office status:

  • Click your profile photo in the top-right corner of the app

  • Select My account

  • Go to Notifications and Messaging

  • Choose your start and end dates

  • Add a personal message (optional)

  • Click Save

Once saved, your Out of Office status will be active for the selected dates.

Role-Specific Scenarios

Your Out of Office status may behave differently depending on your role and where you’re assigned. Below are some common scenarios.

  1. You are a staff member at two centers in different organizations
Your Out of Office status will be visible in both organizations.

  2. You are both a parent and a staff member at the same center
The same Out of Office status will be shown to everyone. Other parents will also see it if they try to message you as a parent.

  3. You are a parent in one center and a staff member in another
Your Out of Office status will only appear in the center where you are a staff member.

  4. You are an organization manager
Your Out of Office status will be shown across all centers in the organization.
